Over the years, I have seen many companies come and go in the stone and tile care specialty. And more recently, there has been a surge of new companies that have sprouted up after attending a one-two day seminar put on by stone tool distributors trying to sell as much product as possible. Unfortunately, these companies in the marketplace will misrepresent their experience and claim to have years of experience in the stone and tile care trade. These owners will have years of experience in carpet cleaning, window cleaning or janitorial cleaning. The owner or salesperson may look the part, and sound experienced, but you, the consumer won’t know there is a difference until it is too late. With the large popularity of stone, there are many stone tool suppliers that hold one-two day seminars on stone and tile care to sell products. It is absolutely impossible to teach the art of stone and tile care in one-two days. Of course, an outline of the most common procedures could be covered, but there is absolutely no substitute for years of actual, hands on experience. There are hundreds of different dimensional stones (each stone reacts differently to finishing techniques), numerous tile or slab joint filler materials (non-sanded grout, sanded grout, epoxy grout, epoxy resin, polyester resin, acrylic resin, caulk, silicone, etc.), various residential and commercial job site circumstances (ie: caring for and not damaging MDF or wood baseboards/cabinetry/doors/trim/stainless steel/glass/rugs/carpet) that require the experienced hands of professionals that actually have actually specialized in stone and tile protection, maintenance and restoration for years.
